Something not working? Use the contact form and attach the diagnostic log from the app (Settings → Share diagnostic log). The log contains damage classes and timings only, never your footage. A sample damaged file for testing is available at strip-moov.mp4 (its index is missing; the repair rebuilds it).
Frequently asked questions
The app says my file is not recoverable. Why?
The media data itself is missing: the file is mostly zeros, or the recording never wrote any frames. There is nothing to rebuild, so Video Repair refuses the job and does not charge you. Try recovering the original from the memory card with a data-recovery tool first, then repair the recovered file.
The repaired video has the wrong colours, blocks, or plays too fast.
The encoder settings had to be reconstructed. Add a healthy video from the same camera with the same resolution and frame rate as a reference (Diagnosis → Boost accuracy) and repair again. The repair copies its exact settings.
Audio is missing.
Some formats store uncompressed (PCM) audio that cannot be located without an intact index; HEVC files without a reference may also come back video-only. Adding a reference video from the same camera usually brings the audio back.
How do I get a file from my computer or camera into the app?
Plug a USB drive or card reader into your iPhone or iPad and open the file from the Files app; share it from any app with Share → Video Repair; or use Home → Wi‑Fi transfer and open the shown address on a computer on the same network.
What do I pay for?
Diagnosis, repair and the preview are free. Exporting the repaired file uses one repair credit, or is unlimited with the weekly subscription or the Lifetime purchase. Credits never expire.
I paid but the export is still locked.
Open Settings → Restore purchases while online. If that does not help, send us your App Store receipt through the contact form and we will sort it out.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Video Repair → Cancel. You keep unlimited exports until the end of the paid period.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a repaired file ever fails to play, write to us and we will make it right.
